John Goldthorpe, f. 1935, britisk sociolog og siden 1969 professor ved University of Oxford, England. Med sin forskning i forandringer i industrisamfundenes sociale organisering, herunder klassestruktur, social mobilitet og politiske holdninger, har Goldthorpe bidraget med vigtige metodiske og empiriske resultater, bl.a. publiceret i Social Mobility and Class Structure in Modern Britain (1980) og i The Constant Flux: a Study of Class Mobility in Industrial Societies (1992) i samarbejde med den svenske sociolog Robert Eriksson (f. 1938).
